According to PRNewswire’s Post “Apple Launches IPad,” on January 27, 2010, Apple introduced their new iPad. The iPad is a new device that will allow their consumers to browse the web, read and send emails, enjoy photos, watch videos, listen to music, play games, and read e-books. The iPad is just 0.5 inches thick and weights just 1.5 pounds, thinner and lightern than any laptop. They will be available in March for just $499.
Apple did a good job of promoting their product, and the benefits it gives to their consumers. Apple highlights the new benefits this product has that it’s never had before. For example the iPad allows costumers to read e-books that they purchase from their new ibookstore.
Apple also promoted their product by describing it as environmentally friendly. The iPads enclosures are m ade of highly recyclable aluminium and comes standard with energy-efficient LED backlights. This is a good way of promoting the product in a positive way, and showing that Apple promotes protecting the environment.
Overall, I think Apple had a great PR move, they created a product that will make a splash in the market and create a need and want from their consumers. They also promoted the reasons why the iPad is different, and why it will benefit the consumers. The iPad will truly revolutionize the field of technology, especially with laptops.
